I can't stop reading!

My wife's mom too went with us! For the reception my wife, Vivian, was dressed in a red/pink saree and my mother-in-law in a pink salwar kameez.

Never imagined such beautiful posts by GG could inspire even the bitterest person to be as bitter as Amit/Akshay is/are. What a shame we have such people on the planet. Actually I should not feel angry at this; I should feel pity for him/them about the extremely pathetic life they have because of this self induced negativity. Amit/Akshay, no offence, but please go get some help.

Hi xaspireonfirex, and welcome to the blog! I'm glad you're enjoying it. :-) I hope to see you around further.

To answer your question, Aditya and I have not moved to India, nor do we have any plans to do so in the near future (altho we're certainly open to the possibility if the perfect opportunity arose).

Hi GG

I just found your blog an am really enjoying reading about your experiences. I share the general consensus here that your readers have come to your blog voluntarily either in search of the common ground of interracial relationships or purely out of interest for your story. As you say yourself - and cannot be said often enough with respect to the www - if you don't like it, you're free to leave!

I was very tickled and also touched by Aditya's cousin's present. When I started dating my partner years ago, I found the sheer number of immediate relatives dizzying. I one day asked him to help me out and he drew me a family tree on the back of a phone-bill envelope. I still have that envelope!

Also on the subject of the bucket-shower, I have to say I really like them. It's a reminder of how little water you genuinely need for a good wash - all too easy to forget with the convenience of power showers. And it's also energy saving, since you need less hot water!

Perhaps I haven't read far enough along yet but it seems you might have moved out to India. Could you tell me when - after your marriage, maybe?

Anyway, thanks for providing this forum for solidarity.

Great pictures guys.. really nice. Gori you look bengali in the picture and I mean that in the best possible manner. However did you pull that off? My wife can't wrap that thing around for the life of her.

I'm pretty shocked by those sick comments from Amit & Akshay. The internet is full of crazy people, glad to see you guys held strong.

I'm only now discovering mixed couples online.. and I though I was alone (ha ha.. just kidding).
Good job on the website too guys.. keep up this great effort.

i think you are an amazing and truly courageous person, and your blog has inspired me to tell my parents about my interracial relationship. I know that i once looked at interracial couples as "sellouts" until i found true love with my soul mate. as such, I can kind of see where Amit was coming from, but true love can and does change things, and i realised that colour means nothing when our blood is all red.

I think it was GB Shaw who had once said, "Knock the patriotism out of people and you will have world peace". If Amit's comments where about nationalism, I would have ignored it.

However, I think it is racist. Yes, racism comes in all colors. I think Amit has had some bad experiences and his thoughts are shaped by those experiences.

As, most of you know, within India there are at least a few dozen races. And, my wife and I are from different races too (Indian inter-cultural couple). It takes a lot to understand someone unlike you and it takes even more to create something beautiful that assimilates the best of both cultures.

As Aditya's brother and GG's brother (by marriage), I can say for the rest of the family - we really are proud of GG's writing. A lot of times, even we look up to her blog for insights. It is awesome! GG you rock.

Wow. I love this blog (it's actually the only one I read) and I can't imagine anyone being so insolent. Personally I think he's jealous of Aditya and perhaps is neurotic enough to think that by attacking you and Aditya maybe he will "open" his eyes and you'll be free for him to snag. Ha ha. I think you are AMAZINGLY beautiful and beside, there's nothing here that can be considered "dirty linen". Perhaps you should hide your wedding photos in your home also for fear of offending someone with your "dirty linen". Also, NEVER tell anyone about going to school or how you met Aditya. That's also apparently too much information. I find it wonderful that you are able to laugh off the insults. I bet that just made him even more angry. Good job. Thanks for the great blog! Good luck in life and with your new puppy. :)

I'm speechless... I (along with my fiancee) have been following your blog for a while and we've loved every bit of it. Not only how intelligent and beautiful but also how rational and even-handed you are in all your posts (we often talk about you and wonder if that's just how you come off in your posts or if you're truly as equitable and sensible all the time in real life). And we've always appreciated how you've opened up so much of your life and your thoughts; it's never easy to leave oneself vulnerable like that. Sadly, this moron seems to have taken advantage of just that vulnerability, mistaking it for weakness when it's really strength: strength of character and soul in connecting with others despite the prospect of idiots like that. Sometimes, I'm truly ashamed of our human race when I see the antics of some moron like this; but then, seeing people like you, willing to continue to connect with others gives hope once again. And maybe this guy is just some frustrated kid who, one day, will grow by such examples of almost Gandhian interaction. Kudos to you, gori girl, and to your lovely family for not giving up on the rest of us and turning off the blog. If I may add one suggestion, though, I'd highly recommend archiving and then deleting all entries/responses by this character: he really doesn't deserve the amazing civil and cordial responses he's received and his comments add nothing to the conversation, in my opinion, at least (except perhaps to highlight your incredible patience and accommodation!).
