One of the best things about the gorigirl.com blog is the multitude of voices and experiences that are brought to every post through the comments section. This new forum section of the website is meant to serve a similar purpose in allowing everyone to speak up and share. And guest posting is the third way that I'd love to hear from people on the site. So, if you might be interested in guest posting, read on:
What is guest posting, exactly? Well, basically, it's where one of you writes a blog post and has it up on the main site under your name. So far we've had three guest posters here – NeoKalypso has written several popular articles, Pale_Desi has written one (which was very popular on social media), and my own husband, Aditya, wrote the post that to-date has had the most comments of any here. Clearly, everyone likes to hear from people other than me.
What would I write about? Anything you want to! Well, mostly – I'd like you to stick to the broad topics of intercultural and India. You could write about a personal experience you've had in your intercultural relationship or something you've done that relates to Indian culture. You could write about a review about a book you've read or a movie you saw relating to these topics. You could ask a question of the readers here, or open up a dialogue on an issue you've been thinking about. You could write an informational piece on something relating to India or interculturalism that you know quite well. Once you start brainstorming, the sky's the limit.
How much work would it be? Not as much as you'd expect. Once you get a good idea send me an email (gorigirl.admin@gmail.com) or post below, and we can discuss it some. If it sounds good, then start writing! If you need some help with editing or research just ask. I like to have one or two images in every post, but you don't need to supply it yourself – just let me know what you think would fit best with your article. I'm willing to make this as collaborative as you'd like, or you can go it alone.
I'm not very good with technical stuff – how do the mechanics of posting work? No worries. If you don't want to deal with the "back-end" of the site, I can take care of all of that – just email me the article. Alternatively, if you'd like to learn more about how blogs work, I can set you up with a contributor's account and you can do the technical stuff yourself, with my assistance if needed.
If you have any other questions, just let me know!
