Hi GG,
I am a southeastern US girl married to a Bengali man for 3 1/2 years. I have just sarted a blog only just 2 weeks ago , so it is a work in progress. I will be talking about my experiences, musing, and posting recipes and other things. It can be found at bengaliwife.blogspot.com. I hope you don't mind my plug here. My question is, as I am not very computer literate, what is the best and most free way to steer traffic to my blog? is there a way that I can link myself to the google search engine with keywords? I imagine that is not free. Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks!

Hi Gori Girl!

I am thrilled I came up with your blog. I am a Mexican girl marrying a South Indian guy in Scotland in June this year.
His father was reluctant to our relationship at first but her mom has accepted me and they both have taken to me.
Life is beautiful! Thanks a lot for your insights.

Hello!

I was wondering if you have any readers or friends who are in an intercultural relationship that is American-Nepali. A lot of reading material out there talks about South Asian relationships that are American-Indian, which I enjoy and extrapolate all that I can from, but it would be nice to have others to talk to that are in the same situation. There are SO many Nepalis in the US these days, I am sure there are a lot out there!

Thanks...

Hi, I'm an Australian married to an Alawi Muslim/Lebanese man. I'm 45 he's 37. I had been divorced many years and have 2 grown up children in their 20's and are parents.
We married in May 2008 after a very short engagement as he is not an Australian citizen, he went looking for marriage and chose me after meeting at least 45 women from his own culture. I explained all the pros and cons about what i would do and what I wouldn't do for example I said I'd never have more children. I thought this would throw him off but it didn't. He speaks very little English and has been here for 6 years. I had always been very interested in Arabic cultures while I became a teacher and after marrying I soon started working in an Islamic school and have become overwhelmed with the culture so much that I have become very disappointed in my marriage and my life.

The honeymoon period seems to be over for me and I have found that I have little respect for him. He's very nice and a little shy but he is easily influenced by the people of his culture. I have noticed that most of them rip the system off by marrying, having lots of babies, lying to Centrelink and recieve parent pensions and the husbands work. They often tell lies so they can get more money/cash in hand. He is the most unromantic man I've ever been with and will walk away from me without holding my hand or showing affection. We have countless misunderstandings and he makes no effort to learn English.

He spits on the ground in front of me, I don't smoke and have asked him several times not to smoke in my car he burned the seat cover and I thought I was going to explode. he seems to bring out this enraged bull in me and I don't like who I've become.

I am seeing a counsellor and on medication for depression as I'm not coping with all the responsibilities that living a life with someone who acts like he can't do anything to help himself. He relies on me for everything in regards to communication, calling various people immigration, gas and electricity, phone bills are a nightmare. The most simple things in life become a drama.

Hi,

I think that gori means "white" in Hindi and that it is slang for white woman. Does it have any inherent negative connotation or can it be negative or positive depending upon the context?

Thanks,
Joe

Thank God for you. I finally found a resource that wasn't looming with warnings about how all desi men are socially retarded and looking to use American women for sex... of course, there are a few, but I find that to be less about culture and more about men. :) Finally a website that has thought put into it. Keep this going!
