Well, we’re back from India! And had the fun of coming back to find the blog hacked and needing a big clean-up. But that’s more or less over (forums will be up this weekend or earlier, with no data lost) – so let’s move on to nicer thoughts… like a spring meetup here in Washington DC!
Americanepali and Andrea have already indicated that they’ll both be available to meet on April 16th, so I’m going to tentatively schedule the meetup for that evening. Anyone else interested in joining in?

Thanks D and GG…I’m so excited! 8 days! Ahh!
Right now the weather looks awesome..70 and sunny for our big day. The wedding and reception are both indoors, but we would love outdoor pics so sunny is good!

I’m interested – I’ll have to check schedules. Any specifics for what time or where yet?
7. April 2010 at 9:05 pm
I think I’ll give it a few more days, and then send out an email to everyone who said they were interested. We can figure out what time & place works best for everyone.
7. April 2010 at 10:21 am
Absolutely! N and I were quite bummed when we missed the last meetup. Just let us know the time and place, and we’ll see you there!

Hey Gori, wondering how your language studies are going? I met my goal inspired by your challenge and this year I’m working on reading 1,000,000 characters in Korean. I’m on track (barely!) so far!

I didn’t achieve the (rather ambitious) goals I set out for pre-India trip, but I didn’t really expect to, actually. I’m still absolutely working on my Hindi though. We bought a bunch of younger children’s books (Indian fables, Hindu myths, daily life – good vocabulary & cultural reference stuff) while in India, and also The Jungle Book for when I’m a bit further along in my studies.
I also just bought what I think is the first proper college textbook for beginners in Hindi: Elementary Hindi. There’s also an associated workbook and some AMAZING flashcards (shows the word, the word in a sentence, and related words/phrases) by the same author. They all just came out this spring, and I’m really enjoying working through them.
I’ll write a post soon with updates on how Hindi is going.

Sorry–I’m in Spokane for SIETAR (Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research), so I’ll miss the 16th. By the way (sorry–off topic, but hopefully fodder for future post) How did your Learning Hindi challenge go? (Ah–I just read above that Amanda wants to know too!)
12. April 2010 at 12:45 pm
I might be able to come if that’s cool with you. I’m waaaay out on the orange line, but I could easily come into DC.
12. April 2010 at 8:21 pm
I might come..!
19. April 2010 at 1:34 pm
Gah! My SO and I just stumbled across your uber-information and very much needed blog yesterday so we’ve missed the meet-up! We’re just down the way in Charlottesville, VA. and absolutely cannot wait to chat. Look forward to the next opportunity…we do traipse up to the D.C. area some weekends for fun and food – any interest out there for a pre-quarterly meet-up? Tea…maybe?
Either way, thanks so much all for the much needed jolt of hope.
8. June 2010 at 12:27 pm
How did the meet up go? OOOOH I wish I would have had the opportunity to meet up with you guys!
3. June 2011 at 4:10 pm
Clearly I missed this one.
But are there anyother interracial indian/white couples who want to meet up??
I just moved to New Jersey and VERY VERY VERY much would like to be around other people who ‘get’ the challenges that come with being the white wife.
lol
